Orang-Utans in Kalimantan

Wie jedes Jahr, so schnupperten wir auch dieses Jahr wieder in andere Lokations von Indonesien. Auf diesem Trip ging es auf einem Klotok in Kalimantan zu den Orang-Utans im Tanjung Putting Nationalpark.
Was ist ein Klotok? „A wooden river boat about 12m by 2m with a roof that forms the upper deck, a great place for viewing the Surrounds, The top deck is also where you will sleep with a mosquito net covering the whole canopy. Toilet facilities and very basic shower facilities aboard the klotok(boat).“
Also Abenteuer auf einem Holz-Fluss –Boot zu den Orang-Utans. Wir flogen nach PANGKALAN BUN und bestiegen unser Klotok ONE PIECE in Kumai . Die Crew Mitglieder empfingen uns sehr freundlich und der Kaptain YEPI tuckerte uns dann durch die Flusslandschaft des Nationalparks. Fendi, der lokale Guide und Monal, unsere one-and-only Tourguide aus Manado machten dieses Abenteuer zu einem einzigartigen Erlebnis. Schon am Uferrand des Flusses konnten wir “Dutch Monkeys”, Makakken und Hornbills beobachten. ONE PIECE führte uns zu den diversen Feeding Stations des Nationalparks (Tanjung Harapan, Pondok Tangguy) und der Höhepunkt war Camp Leakey. Dort durften wir Tom kennenlernen, des Alpha Tier des Clans. Mario, ein Jungtier von ca. 5–6 Jahren empfing unser Klotok schon an der Anlegestelle und wollte uns beim Lunch observieren. Ranny, ein Weibchen, hat Freundschaft mit uns geschlossen und wollte Hand in Hand spazieren gehen. Ein unvergessliches Erlebnis und wir möchten unseren Dank an Monal – Sultan Tours – aussprechen, der diese Tour organisiert und uns begleitet hat.

ORANGUTAN TOUR Duration : 3 Days – 2 Nights on the boat High light : River safari, Feeding time, Orangutan observation.
Day 01 : PANGKALAN BUN – KUMAI – PARK
Upon arrival at Pangkalan Bun Airport you will be picked up by our local guide and take you to Kumai to board on the boat. The boat is a traditional Klotok wooden river boat about 12m by 2.5m with a roof which forms the upper deck where you can view the rain forest as it glides by. The guide‘s team includes the boatmen( captain and assistant), a cook and a guide. We’ll cacth the afternoon feeding time for orangutans at 3 pm. at the fisrt camp named Tanjung Harapan. After feeding In the peaceful afternoon we will slowly explore the quite river by the klotok while observe the monkeys(proboscis and long tail macaca) along the riverside. Dinner on the boat and overnight on boat.
DAY 02: BOAT – PONDOK TANGGUI – CAMP LEAKEY
After breakfast on the klotok we’re boating up the river for about 1 hour we stop at Pondok Tangguy, the second camp which used to be a rehabilitation center for the new ex-captive orangutans, to see morning feeding time for orangutans at 09.00 am. After that proceed to Camp Leakey where the older orangutans were used to be reintroduced into the rain forest. After lunch on the boat you will have opportunity to take short trekking before we witness the orangutans feeding time at 2 pm for old rehabilitated orangutan which are given additional foods and some milk. Overnight on the boat .
Day 03 : PARK – PANGKALAN BUN
After breakfast at the klotok we’re boating down the river back to Kumai and transfer to the airport( B ) Tour end.
