We had an unbelievable time at Blue Bay! It is such a wonderful place. The diving is terrific but it is the people there that really made our stay memorable. We were so sad to leave. We felt like we were part of the family from the very beginning. It takes a special place to make such an impact on you in such a short period of time.

Thanks Anke and Salmon and the rest of the Blue Bay staff!!!

Missing you!

Dear Anke and Salmon,
It was such a pleasure spending a month with you both at Blue Bay. The staff was wonderful and, after having over 250 dives in Northern Sulawesi, I know we have dived with the very best dive guides anywhere at Blue Bay. We spent most of our dives with Yaps and his skill set is unbelievable.
I have an affinity to cephalopods and I thought seeing a hairy octopus was as good as it can get but to see another, two days later at a different site, was beyond all expectations. Blue Ringed, Mototi, Wonderpus, Mimic (2 on one dive) and many Flamboyant Cuttlefish attest to the skills of Yaps.
On one dive I could hear Mary and Yaps yelling and as I swam over, they were high fiving and hugging underwater and there, posing like a model, was a beautiful Rhinopias in a geographic area where it has never been reported. What a treat, not only seeing this spectacular fish, but the enthusiasm of everyone to the event, including the terrific boat crew, who were all excited to see the pictures.
Every day was a treat but the day we went to Batu Goshi for two dives was simply one of those days that will stay with me forever. To glide through those pinnacles surrounded with marine life on such a fine clear day and look up to the surface, where they erupt out of the water, was truly beautiful. As if that wasn’t enough we spent our between dive interval playing tag with a juvenile Dugong along the beautiful landscape of Bangka Island.
It is summer here but when the fall rain and cold returns and the days shorten I will think of coming up from a 28 C night dive with the star filled night showing both the Southern Cross and Ursa Major, one constellation pointing to the south pole and the other to Polaris. What a thrill.
Beyond all the daily visual treats, we simply had great fun being with Yaps, Evan and Ewan and all the Blue Bay family.
Mary is missing all her friends and we both are already preparing and planning our return. It is truly a remarkable place and you both, and the exceptional people who work with you, make it so.
Love,
Greg and Mary

Hi Anke, Salmon and all of the team.
We had a wonderful time with you!! The island has such a perfect setting, white sand beach, lovely rooms right at the beach front! Excellent dive guides with great knowledge and amazing divesites so close by.
Its nice in the evening when you can talk with the guides and see in the books about all the beautiful critters you have seen that dive!
Food is excellent together with the houseband, it gives such a nice relax atmosphere.
We would like to thank you all again for the wonderful time, great memories, fantastic people!
warm greetings, suus and rob

Anke, we also want to say how we greatly appreciate the level of service that you provide to divers. We find ourselves comparing diving experiences to what we recieved at Blue Bay Divers. Your guides are top-notch and so knowledgeable. The evening dive review that you offer with guides is very unique and wonderful. And we love your uncrowded boats! Just know, that you are doing everything right.
Thank You

Hi Anke, Salmon and all the staff at BBD
We are back in London and it seems a million miles from Sahaung. After leaving the island we spent 4 nights on Bunaken Island but it simply did not compare with Blue Bay. Your hospitality, location, food, friendliness, knowledge from dive team, atmosphere, ambience and general set up and operation were terrific.
You have a beautiful Island and I dont blame you wanting to keep it a secret - Bunaken seemed spoilt crowded and impersonal. I hope things never get spoilt on Sahaung.
Salmon - I’m keen to find out if you’ve sunk your fishing platform. I’ll be keen to see it on our next visit. Also I didnt get a chance to say thanks to Victor for his guiding. He was an excellent guide and didn’t miss much. By the way Tommy (Ex - Froggies mgr)from Happy Flower Tomohon says Hi.
Take care
We hope to see you soon

Hallo Anke, Dear Salmon!

We’re back in Germany, already one week is gone with the „normal” business-life and working-days.

First of all, we would like to tell you, that everything was good during our long 30-hours-trip home.

Danny and Gustav have shipped us brilliantly over to Munir, who was already waiting for us at the beach, and after a last cigarette with Danny, we had to say “Auf Wiedersehen” (not Goodbye!) to beautiful Sahaung.

It was a really great experience to stay at your resort, and meet all the nice people in Blue Bay.

Now, after one normal week back in (Good) Old Germany, we can tell, that we were very lucky, that we had the possibility to stay in your little paradise.

Therefore, we would like to thank you very, very much once again.

Service, staff, accommodation, diving, organisation, food, shortly: EVERYTHING was great, and we were able to benefit as much as never before from this holiday.

Anke, thank you very much for your easy and relaxing organisation of our trip and during the whole stay in Sahaung.

And Salmon. Thank you very, very much for your special assistance during the first dives, it was great, and thank you for your happy smiles and the nice jokes you have told us, we will never forget them!
Hallo Anke, Salmon and the crew

Hello Anke, Salmon and the crew,

I had a great stay on the island of Sahuang.
The impressions are the kind you never will forget. A beautifull tropical island, great diving spots and a super crew who will make your stay at Sahaung one you will always remember.
My friends and I stayed for 12 days. On the day that we left the whole crew came to say goodbye and they sang songs on the beach which lyrics ment that we should have a save journey back home. I never experienced this kind of goodbye ; and it almost felt like you left your family behind….

So one more time : thx a lot everbody and hopefully I will see you again….

Greetings

Blue Bay Song

Melody: We are Sailing

We are diving, Sulawesi,
Sahaung Island in the sun.
Not only diving, also singing,
and all day through, we make fun!

In the morning, first have breakfast,
you can order what you want!
Pisang Goreng, Telur or Tosti,
Era serves it, one by one

In the kitchen, sound of laughing,
Like makes there all the food.
Ance kiss me, every evening,
before sleeping, that feels good!

When we’re diving, there’s the boat crew,
always helpful and stand-by!
Brings you water and the coffee,
splash with water when the sea is dry!

Early morning, make a night-dive,
before sunset, on the beach.
Let’s make party in the office,
how to do that, Dolfi teach!

When we’re diving, Yaps is guiding
He finds all stuff in the sea!
Sharks and turtles, dugong, hawkfish,
even sometimes Pontohi!

And tomorrow, we are leaving,
we are crying, all day long.
We will miss you, all together.
This was Hermen’s Blue Bay song!
Many Thanks

Dear Anke, Salmon and all the team

Many thanks for a wonderful stay. I have lots of wonderful memories and it will take me for ever to sort through all the imges which I took on the 38 dives.

You have a wonderful location and a tremendous team which makes an unbeatable combination for a great dive trip.

Best wishes to you all

wonderful trip

Dear Anke, Salmon and the Blue Bay staff,

Mary and I would like to take a moment to thank everyone at Blue Bay for a truly memorable trip. This was our third trip to Northern Sulawesi so our expectations for the diving were very high. It was fabulous! With the unbelievable eyes of all the dive guides, we encountered many wonderful species of fish and invertebrates new to us. Every dive was an adventure and we both look forward to returning to continue our exploration of the area. The underwater life and scenery was incredible, while the topside is just as beautiful. I particularly enjoyed the end of a dive on the mainland, when I surfaced next to a little beach, to be greeted by a Hornbill flying over. What great memories.\r\n\r\nWhen you first arrive at a place you have only seen in photos, there is a bit of anticipation as to how it will really be. When we entered the bay and viewed the setting it was beyond my expectations. What an idyllic location. In addition, to be able to dive Bunaken and Lembeh from this location is such a bonus.

Please extend our thanks to the wonderful people of Blue Bay. The dive guides are the best and Anke, Salmon and all the staff made us feel like family the moment our feet hit the beach.

Warm Regards,
Greg and Mary McDonald
